Sports Funding

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for PE and sport to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision in primary schools.

Each school will receive £8,000 plus a supplement for each pupil. In order to get the best value and maximum impact for our children, we plan to use the money in a wide variety of ways.

Pay for transport to attend inter-school competitions.

Release staff to accompany children to attend competitions.

Organise intra-school competitions.

  • Offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities for after school, dinner time and breakfast club; all run by qualified sports coaches.
  • Train KS2 children to be junior play leaders.
  • Provide resource children with an additional sport session each week.
  • Provide specialist coaching for school sports teams.

High quality P.E.

  •  Allow class teachers to attend CPD sessions.
  • Fund release time for the P.E. and sport leader.
  • Purchase equipment to enable children to participate in sports outside of the National Curriculum, such as rhythmic gymnastics, zumba and cheerleading.
